All Forsyth County Public Library programs are free and open to the public. You do not need a Forsyth County Public Library card to attend library programs. Bookmark Art Contest
Aug. 12-Oct. 5
All Forsyth County Public Library Locations
Children of all ages (Preschool-Grade 12) may enter as many designs as they would like. Entry forms are available at all Forsyth County Public Library branches, participating school media centers and here. Entries may be turned into any library branch or participating school media center by Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m.

Forsyth County Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board 2024-2025 (meets virtually)
First Tuesdays from 5-6 p.m.
Ages 12-18. The Forsyth County Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board meets virtually to discuss ways to improve the library's service to teens. The board is made up of our teen volunteers. Board meetings count toward volunteer hours. Email Mia for more information or to apply.
To become a library volunteer, please fill out the Volunteer Application and Agreement forms. Download the forms here or pick them up at any of the Forsyth County Public Library branches.

Gaming Hour
Tuesday, Sep. 10 at 3 p.m.
Conference Room
Kids and teens are invited to join us for an hour of board games and group video games such as Just Dance and MarioKart.

Chess Club
Every other Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Sep. 11 and Sep. 25
Conference Room
All ages welcome. Come join us as we celebrate and play the age-old game of chess. Open to experienced and beginner players alike. For more information about this programs, call 336-703-2910 or email Jordan.

Craft Club: Slime
Monday, Sep. 16 at 3 p.m.
Kids and teens are invited to join our monthly craft club. This is a great group to join to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects! Supplies will be provided.

Teen Study Hall
Wednesday, Sep. 18 at 3 p.m.
Conference Room
Grab a snack, complete homework, and learn about library resources for education and tutoring. DIY stress relieving activities will be available. A signed waiver is required to enjoy snacks.

S.H.E. (Show. Help. Employ.)
Thursdays, Sep. 19 at 3 p.m.
Conference Room
Show, Help, Employ (SHE) is a program created by the Crosby Scholars designed to introduce STEM to female minority students. Women, and particularly women minorities, are underrepresented in STEM fields. This program will:

  • SHOW minority girls that a STEM career is achievable
  • HELP girls take the steps to graduate college with a STEM degree and minimal debt
  • (aim to) EMPLOY girls into future STEM careers
SHE will hold monthly career exploration events at the Carver School Road Branch Library where women minorities who work in the STEM field speak to teenage girls about their careers and engage them in a hands-on learning opportunity.

Thursday, Sep. 26 at 3 p.m.
Conference Room
Community nutritionist, Kerry Leonard, joins us to provide teens with the knowledge to make healthful, informed nutrition decisions and build upon their skills to create snacks that meet their individual needs. If your participant has allergies or food restrictions, let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate them. A program waiver is required for this program. You can pick one up at the circulation desk or request a copy by emailing Sarah.

Tai Chi at Central
Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
Central Library Auditorium or Lawn (depending on the weather)
Ages 12 and up. Tai Chi is a form of gentle exercise, a method of moving meditation and a means of cultivating health and well-being. Tai Chi is suitable for all ages and abilities so it's never too late to start. Classes will be held in the Central Library Auditorium or outside on the lawn depending on the weather. Cooking for Teens: Vegetarian Chili
Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 5-6:30 p.m.
Central Library- Kitchen
Ages 12-18.
Learn to make healthy snacks from professional chef Floyd Davis. No experience in the kitchen required. Program waivers are required. If you have allergies or food restrictions, please let us know when you register and we will try to accommodate them. To register, email Mia.

National Voter Registration Day Event
Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 4:30-6 p.m.
Central Library- Front Lawn (Auditorium if it rains)
All ages welcome. Forsyth County Board of Elections will be registering people to vote and making free voter IDs. Enjoy music and eat ice cream. Patriotic crafts and lawn games will be available for children. This is a non-partisan event. Ice cream will be served while supplies last.

STEM: Build a Microscope
Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 5-6 p.m.
Central Library Makerspace
Ages 9-18. In this hands-on activity youth will build their own microscope called a foldscope. This compact microscope will be used to review several specimens to identify the compounds that exist within our soil and water. After the activity youth will get to take the microscope home with them. Registration is required. To register, go here.

Mario Kart Tournament
Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m.
Central Library Teen Central
Ages 12-18. Show off your racing skills in this friendly competition. Winners will get small prizes. Waiver required for snacks.

Teen Art Hour: Anime Craft/Soot Sprites
Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 5-6 p.m.

Cooking with Chef Davis
Wednesday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m.
