Forsyth County to accept applications for Opioid Settlement and Behavorial Health funding

Forsyth County is requesting applications for Opioid Settlement funds and Behavorial Health funds from organizations and programs for Fiscal Year 2024-2025.

Applications must be completed for consideration and will be submitted online at https://www.forsyth.cc/opioid_settlement.aspx starting on Feb. 7 at 12 noon. Applications are due March 1 by 12 noon.

Funding must be approved by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. Commissioners are expected to approve this year’s funding allocations when they adopt the 2024-2025 County budget in June.

As part of the nationwide Opioid Settlement, Forsyth County will receive more than $38 million over an 18-year period to allocate in response to the opioid epidemic and its impacts on county residents. The funds will be used for approved prioritized strategies focused on treatment, prevention, supporting people in recovery and for harm reduction to prevent overdoses or other harms caused by opioid use. Opioid Settlement fund distribution and use is directed by a Memorandum of Agreement between the State of North Carolina and local governments.

Forsyth County’s Behavioral Health funding is allocated on an annual basis to organizations and programs that serve the mental health, substance use, and developmental disability needs of children and adults in the county.
