RALEIGH — Public comment is sought on the revision of the proposed 2019-2022 TANF State Plan, which outlines how the state will facilitate the TANF program, over the next three years. The NC Department of Health and Human Services will submit the North Carolina Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) State Plan to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. This draft plan covers the Federal Fiscal Years 2019-2022 and must be submitted by September 30, 2019. The TANF State Plan will be available for public review and comment July 16, 2019 – August 30, 2019.
The TANF Block Grant is the major source of federal funding for a wide range of benefits, services, and activities to assist needy families with children. The TANF State Plan is required for North Carolina to receive TANF block grant funds. The TANF State Plan describes major program provisions and outlines who is eligible, program participation requirements, and program benefits.
