The Paddison Memorial Branch will hold its grand opening on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. The library is located at 248 Harmon Lane in Kernersville, about a block from the former Kernersville Branch Library.
“Our branch in Kernersville has always occupied a prominent place in the community,” said Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin, the director of the Forsyth County Public Library system. “We thank the citizens for their patience and we feel certain they’ll be pleased with the many new features.”
Ground was broken for the $6-million dollar project in September 2017. With 20,000 square feet of space, the new library branch will double the size of the Kernersville Branch Library, which closed in November.
The new library features a makerspace, three public meeting spaces, a courtyard and an auditorium that can seat over 150 people. There are distinct teen and children’s space and a special storytime room.
“We hope that having the grand opening so close to the holidays will give people a chance to stop by and visit,” Sprinkle-Hamlin said. “We like to think of the Paddison Memorial Branch as our Christmas gift to the community.”
