Many beekeepers are perplexed about appropriate measures to help increase winter survival rates of managed honeybee (Apis mellifera) colonies. Recommendations vary among experienced beekeepers and also from state to state depending on climatic conditions. In an effort to provide area beekeepers with the best possible data-based information the Forsyth County Beekeepers Association (FCBA) has put together a survey to examine local practices. The resulting data will be used to form specific correlations between winter management practices and hive survival. An online version of the survey is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R9GKWF5.
Paper copies are also available at N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, 1450 Fairchild Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 The deadline for completing the survey is Saturday, March 24, 2018.
