The Adult Education Lecture at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park scheduled for August 16 has been changed. The lecture will now be “Horticultural Therapy for Special Populations” presented by registered Horticultural Therapist and Community Garden Mentor Lea Nading. Lea will share experiences and lessons learned over 25 years of working to help special populations experience the joy of gardening. She will offer general suggestions on developing horticultural therapy programs and provide examples and tips for working in a variety of settings, including communities living on low incomes, schools and libraries, senior centers, and mental health services. She will discuss how to create inclusive garden infrastructure and plantings and share ideas for gardening activities that all groups can participate in and enjoy.
Lea’s presentation will replace “Gardening for Butterflies,” which was originally scheduled on this date.
The Adult Education Lecture Series at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park offers classes once a month, each month through November, and cover a wide variety of topics. Please view the attached flyer for the full schedule.
Registration is required and opens two weeks before each class. Register by calling 336-703-2850 or emailing coop-ext-registration@forsyth.cc.
