In order to get started, Veterans must present their recorded or unrecorded DD214 along with a valid government issued photo ID. If the Veteran has already filed their DD214 with Forsyth County, we merely need your name & photo ID to check our indexes. If you have recorded your DD214 in another County or State, please present the original or a copy. If you happen to have an UNRECORDED DD214, we will be more than happy to place it in the Forsyth County Register of Deeds files for free. If you are unable to locate your DD214, you may contact the North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs at (336) 766-1496, & they will order one for you.
A list of participating businesses can be found here. These businesses may have a decal in their window stating they are a part of the “Thank A Vet Discount” program. Businesses may offer anything from a daily discount to discounts only on Veteran’s Day.
To minimize wait times, we highly recommend calling (336) 703-2712 to schedule an appointment. Appointment times will be available Tuesday and Thursday, between the hours of 9:00AM-11:00AM and 2:00PM-4:00PM.
