Throughout the year Forsyth County has large groups of items declared surplus, by the Board of Commissioners, to be sold. When this occurs, Property Management is tasked with the responsibility of handling the sale of those items. This is done by using GovDeals, a public auction website specifically for government agencies, to list any item(s) that Forsyth County has for sale.
Once items are grouped together, tagged by lot number and photographed they will be listed on GovDeals for a two week bid period. During this two week period there are designated dates and times for anyone to make an appointment to view lots or submit questions through the GovDeals website concerning any a particular lot. Once the two week period ends and the sale has concluded Property Management staff works with the winning bidders to schedule pickups of any lot(s) they may have won.
The use of GovDeals by the County allows for more people to have an opportunity to bid on these surplus items. GovDeals sales also allow them to bid from the comfort of home without the worry of bad weather that could be encountered at an on-site auction.
The County currently has items listed for sale on GovDeals until Monday December 7th. To view these items please visit GovDeals.com, click on location search and enter your zip code. Forsyth County will pop up and you will be able to view all available items from this page. If you have any questions concerning GovDeals please email propertymanagement@forsyth.cc.
