Spring 2009 Litter Sweep Roadside Cleanup
Litter Sweep is the N.C. Dept. of Transporation annual statewide roadside litter cleanup event. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your support for a clean N.C. by organizing a cleanup in your community between April 18 and May 2.
To highlight the significance of the cleanup and a clean environment, Governor Perdue has issued a proclamation naming April 18 - May 2, 2009, Litter Sweep time in North Carolina. NCDOT crews, local governments, Department of Correction inmates, Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, churches, civic organizations, schools, businesses and concerned citizens across the state will be cleaning roadsides with you. Working together we can reach our goal of clean and beautiful communities.
Participants are eligible to receive a certificate of appreciation and enter the Most Unusual Litter Contest for cash prizes. Promotional materials and forms suitable for printing can be found by visiting the
N.C. Department of Transporation website or by calling Jennifer Jordan at 336-896-7014.
Cleanup supplies may be picked up from our local NCDOT county maintenance office located at 300 Craft Drive, Winston-Salem 27105. Orange safety vests, orange trash bags, blue recycling bags, gloves and trash pickup sticks will be available. After your cleanup, call our local NCDOT county maintenance office at 336-896-7014 to ask for your trash-filled orange bags to be picked up from the roadside.
Thank you for your leadership and volunteer efforst in sustaining a clean community and a clean state for all North Carolinians.
